It was hands down the most amazing trip of my life. I still cant believe we got to see all the things we did. The best part was the group. We all hit it off immediately. On the flight we became instant best friends, it was insanity and crying laughing the rest of the trip haha.
Liz (the owner of Albion) grew up in Guatemala for most of her childhood. Albion’s factory is there and has created work for so many amazing people. People who came from absolutely nothing who have now been able to put their kids through college. One of the most amazing experiences was being able to go to the factory and meet everyone who makes the clothes. They truly love their jobs.
Liz took us all over Guatemala. To every single one of their favorite spots. I had no idea Guatemala was so beautiful.
We began in Antigua, the most famous city there full of color and life and bustling cobblestone streets with the most beautiful architecture. Then we went to Atitlan, probably the most beautiful hotel and view Ive ever seen in my life. Its right on a massive lake that is surrounded by 3 volcanos so the water is super warm.. we then boated across the lake to Santiago to shop the markets there!! Next up was Tikal.. the hotel we stayed at actually scared me a bit because we were right in the depths of the jungle. The most memorable experience I had was there in Tikal when we got up at 3 am to hike through the jungle to the top of one of the mayan temples to watch the sunrise. It was breathtaking and absolutely terrifying. The howler monkeys howled all night and morning, they sound like some sort of Dementor mixed with a jurassic park dinosaur. The last place we went was my most favorite of all. I want to cry sometimes when I think about it because it was just too beautiful to even try and explain. Rio Dulce. We stayed at Hotel Catamaran. Every room is a little bungalow on the water. Rio Dulce is this massive amazing river that the whole little town is build on and around. Everyone gets around on canoes. The river flows into the Carribean ocean which we boated to.. We boated to beaches and waterfalls, even a hot spring waterfall that felt like a massive hot tub. Just the most incredible place that I dream about all the time..
If you havnt already, go watch the video the Devines made which just sums up how much fun we had!!!!! just crazy insane freak of nature fun. https://youtu.be/oQI_LVNKAQ8
